The Nurse Manager for Urgent Care reports to the Chief Nurse of Specialty and Surgical Services with second line reporting to the Associate Director of Patient Care and Nursing Services/Chief Nurse Executive. The responsibilities for the Nurse Manager for Urgent Care include, but are not limited to the following:
The Nurse Manager for Urgent Care executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to complex patient care management. The Nurse Manager for Urgent Care Leads and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning; Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes; Functions as an expert in clinical practice and areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities; Systematically assess current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and organizational processes within an area of expertise; Guides, develops, and supports staff from a leadership perspective; and Uses professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and service activities. Maintains current knowledge and abilities essential to the role. Implements and monitors compliance to patient care and professional standards established by the department of nursing, state law, and regulatory agencies. Provides effective visionary leadership in development of policies, procedures, and protocols that are used to integrate systems, coordinate tasks and effectively change delivery systems to reflect today's health care environment. Responsible for administration and evaluation of nursing care, program implementation, personnel management and overall operations of the UC. Ensures the utilization of the Emergency Department Integration System (EDIS) tracking program to capture patient data. Utilizes this data to improve patient flow in collaboration with the Chief of Urgent Care. Reviews the Emergency Medicine Management Tool (EMMT) for productivity and operational risks. Ensure staff maintains knowledge of emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, fire plan, equipment failure, outage, & reusable medical equipment (RME). Participates in annual UC staffing methodology practices to ensure adequate staffing is available for continued growth. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Provides an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full individual potential. Identifies areas of strength as well as areas for professional/practice development. Seeks constructive feedback regarding own practice. Actively works to achieve goals identified during performance appraisal period. Provides input into performance/competency assessment of team members. Utilizes problem-solving skills to resolve system or process problems that impact on programs and/or service activities. Coordinate and complete interviews of applicants and finalizes hiring decisions. Collaborates with Employee Education to arrange orientation/training schedule & assigns preceptors for each new employee. Tracks performance carefully during probationary period to ensure that new employees are meeting expectations; and document evidence to support taking appropriate action when performance is less than satisfactory. Initiates & leads performance improvement change to improve quality of care. Serves as a nursing resource for all disciplines. Leads and guides staff in unit QM activities to monitor compliance to performance improvement activities. Develops in-service educational activities and/or unit program specific competency development based on changes in regulation and action items from formal program reviews. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency:

The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
