Utility Systems Operator (Direct-Hire Authority)

Duties:
The incumbent's duties include and are not limited to general maintenance of support work, survey of buildings, review and completion of tasks in the Work Order System, operation and repair of multiple utilities, on-the-job training, learning new concepts and procedures and cross training of similar or lower grades. The incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved with replacing, modifying, troubleshooting and repairing new and existing systems, including, but not limited to:
electrical building systems, condensers, chillers, air handlers, compressed air, humidifying, dehumidifying, filtering, refrigerators, freezers and computer based Building Management Systems (BMS). The incumbent operates and maintains existing plumbing systems, to include, but not limited to:
high/ low pressure piping, sanitary sewer, steam heat, steam generation, circulating, vacuum, and condensate pumps, expansion tanks, radiators, lavatories, commodes, and water heaters. The incumbent works from building plans, blueprints and sketches to plan and layout routing of piping, wiring, vents, or refrigeration lines, and valves. Incumbent selects tools, decides on methods and techniques to use, and carry out the work with little check during its progress. Routine maintenance duties are accomplished independently. Maintenance, repair, installation, and removal of thermostats, outlets, switches, ballasts, lamps, valves, pumps, and motors, etc. He/she will use the proper Lockout/Tagout procedures/permits prior to performing any work and close them out in a timely manner. He/She shall adhere to all policies that are used in the facility. Performs all scheduled maintenance by policy or direction. Incumbent must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Work Schedule:

Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT:
Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
