Incumbent meets and interacts with the general public in a manner that promotes a positive image of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Duties include but are not limited to:
Conduct pre-entry administrative screening of all staff, patients, and visitors to the Medical Center following current policy and guidance Escort and/or assist mobility-challenged Veterans, such as pushing wheelchairs Collect and update insurance information from Veterans, family members, and other eligible patients Prepare correspondence and memos as needed Receive and screen phone calls in a courteous and timely manner, determine the nature of request, and provide the information desired using privacy rules and established clinic processes Ensure data is entered into VISTA accurately and scans documents into VISTA Imaging within 24 hours of entering the data into VISTA if applicable Promote Veteran registration for and utilization of MyHealtheVet (MHV) Stock basic office supplies for the clinical area Enter Veterans seeking urgent care and scheduling appointments accurately Utilize call lists to telephone Veterans to pre-register them before their scheduled visits Update all patient demographics Communicate and interact with patients in a manner which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient Assure all appropriate VA forms are used correctly and regulations followed Additional duties or tasks may be assigned Work Schedule:

Six months experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR One (1) year above high school; OR Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04); OR Education:
Four (4) years of education above high school. Assignment. This is the full performance level for MSAs. At this level, the MSA performs a full range of duties. The MSA is responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information; monitoring the electronic wait list; preparing for clinic visits; monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit; verifying and updating demographics and insurance information; processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals; performing basic eligibility, co-pays and preauthorization requirements for specific coverage (i.e., TRICARE, sharing agreements, etc.). Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:
Ability to operate computerized programs and databases in order to enter, modify and retrieve sensitive information/data into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems and/or reports. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Ability to make appointments in a clinical setting. Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties, including setting priorities and coordinating work. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at varying grade levels. Ability to identify customer's concerns, perform the tasks required to resolve the issue accurately and timely, and follow-up as necessary to ensure a satisfactory resolution. References:

The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books and small parts, etc. May be called upon to escort and/or assist mobility-challenged Veterans, such as pushing wheelchairs.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
