Helpdesk Support Techinician

The Helpdesk Support Technician provides Tier II support to _FIRST_ employees and end users. The position responds to helpdesk requests for assistance, troubleshoots and resolves problems around desktop/laptop hardware and software, and works closely with our infrastructure team to resolve network, phone, and email issues. . The position requires excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, along with a working knowledge of:
IP phone systems
Microsoft operating systems and office applications
KACE (or similar) management and deployment systems
Logmein Rescue remote assistance (or similar tools)
Hardware and software installation.
The Helpdesk Technician must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and web based issues.
Help Desk Administration:
Answer trouble calls/emails in a timely manner.
Enters work orders in our helpdesk tracking software.
Assists in administering and maintaining local and web-based versions of our tracking software.
Assists in the administration and maintenance of internal applications as well as operating systems.
Interacts with internal clients to resolve support requests.
Assists with the administration and maintenance of the telephone system
Assists with the creation of new hire telephone and voicemail extensions
Asset Management:
Assists with the inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies.
Assists with the purchase of software, hardware and other IT supplies through established vendors.
Promotes responsible usage and care of equipment.
Understands the issues involved with administering and maintaining infrastructure, including network connectivity, internet access, email, etc.
Understands the issues involved in administering and maintaining Wireless networks.
New Hire Administration:
Creates network and email accounts for new users.
Sets up computers for new users
Provides orientation training to our applications and systems.
Audio and Video - Event support
Off site and on site events requiring network, audio & video, and presentation support
Experience with video editing, audio editing, video streaming, and video conversion
B.S. in computer science, engineering, MIS, computer information or related fields, or equivalent work experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
