Packaging Engineer

POSITION SUMMARYOversee the creation, development and implementation of packaging details and processes to maintain proper transportation and product protection while maintaining cost efficiency.
Ensures adherence to specifications cited in customer contracts regarding packing materials and references to published standards.
Authors and maintains work instructions detailing internal procedures for creating packaging requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Define and develop packaging processes.
Create packaging details on routings based on project requirements provided in the customer contract.
Create and maintain work instructions.
Designs and documents wooden shipping fixturing per specifications.
Define inspection requirements to ensure compliance per customer requirements.
Champion process development and improvement to improve packaging quality and efficiency.
Determine and eliminate root cause of quality defects that arise from product damage during shipping.
Assist in developing plant layout by planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space and flow of product.
Serve as the company subject matter expert concerning new packaging technologies and equipment in order to reduce cost through efficiencies.
Support legacy and new product introduction (NPI) projects working with a team of Program Managers and Project Engineers to meet shipment goals.

being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
3
years' experience in packaging requirements preferred.
Detailed understanding of GD&T and experience interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
Experience with project management responsibilities.
3
years of experience in a defense/aerospace related job shop environment is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Products Demonstrated proficiency in Solidworks.
