We hope to meet you soon! DAY-TO-DAY As a Parent Education Specialist / Community Counselor, you are responsible for partnering with DCYF to promote the safety and well-being of families in our community.
You complete a variety of training to be successful at your job, including mandated reporting, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practices, and DCYF CORE academy as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.
In addition, you complete field training that involves shadowing and role-playing with peers, mentors, and supervisors.
After your training is complete, you facilitate both group and individual sessions to provide parenting education.
Since the needs of families will vary, you quickly adapt and find the correct resources that are needed to help each individual case.
You also attend DCYF staff meetings, Better Together meetings, and other family programming required events.
At times, you complete administrative work, such as case documentation, written correspondence, and other data entry duties as needed.
