POSITION
Summary:
Assists the Manager, Financial Reporting, in the reporting of Elliot Health System financial operations. This position performs critical daily tasks such as the reporting of Elliot Hospital s cash balances, the reconciliation of EPIC accounts receivable activity to the General Ledger, the recording of Elliot Hospital cash transactions and non-patient credit card transactions. Financial reporting tasks consist of preparation, analysis and release of monthly financial statements for all real estate locations.
KEY
Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for financial reporting associated with Elliot Hospital.
Detailed audit of significant number of Elliot Hospital departments to include actual to budget comparison with research and explanation of variances, possible expense accruals and/or correcting entries.
Responds to questions and requests from department managers and directors.
Balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Reconciliation of Elliot Hospital cash, credit card and A/R postings from subsystem to General Ledger along with monitoring of clearing accounts.
Primary responsibility for monthly reconciliation of several bank accounts including Elliot Hospital operating account.
Prepares, inputs and logs standard, recurring and general journal entries.
Monthly consolidated financial statements for lower level groups of departments.
Back-up responsibility for daily bank deposits, A/R and credit card posting and on-line user training.
Prepares year-end audit schedules, assists with interim year-end audits and responds to questions and requests from external auditors.
Monitors cash flow and provides daily reporting of available cash balances for Elliot Hospital.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Ability to express and clearly communicate Finance policies and procedures and/or detailed instructions and procedures for proper recordkeeping.
Ability to participate constructively in meetings/group projects with colleagues as well as others outside of the Finance area.
Ability to plan and execute special projects to successful/desired results within the stated time frame as assigned by Manager.
Ability to perform a thorough review of balance sheet and income statement accounts tasks to be performed include recommending/executing correcting entries, raising potential issues for discussion, identifying problem accounts, analyzing balances for accuracy and completeness and proposing accrual or deferral entries as appropriate.
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
Education:
Associate s degree in accounting/business major required. Bachelor degree in accounting or business major preferred.
Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years of accounting experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
Certification/Licensure: None
Software/Hardware:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Lawson business software a plus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
